A three-day capacity building workshop was organized by
MATF for representatives of all the round five grantees
in Nairobi. This was from 20-22
February 2008.
The four projects were:
• Fresh fruits processing by Africa Now –
Kenya;
• Upland Rice by Africa 2000 Network – Uganda;
• Cashew nuts by DUCCON – Tanzania; and a
regional one,
• Onions by Farm Concern international (FCI) –
Tanzania and Kenya.
In addition, three projects at the proposal stage were
also invited to the workshop. The projects were represented
by two staff each - a technical and finance staff, while
the potential ones were represented by only one staff
member.
The objective of the workshop was to build the capacity
of the grantees on
PM&E so as to ensure that they set up appropriate
monitoring systems and
reporting systems that will capture the necessary information
for future use
e.g. in evaluations and impact assessments.
The workshop was well received by the participants with
several commenting that it was timely and very useful.
It helped them review their logical frame works and key
indicators in their project document. The major output
of the workshop was a participatory Monitoring and Evaluation
Matrix frame work for each project. This is a key tool
in the monitoring activities of the project. |
